Good value from this old hotel
The KOI was a stand alone hotel many years ago and is now part of the Royal Lahaina. It's still booked online as a separate hotel but it's not - you check in at the RLH desk and everything is treated as if you are a RLH guest, including access to all amenities and services. The building is old and the room have not been updated since Elvis was singing but they are large, clean and have everything you need in a hotel room and a nice balcony big enough for cocktails. Almost every room has 2 queen beds. Right next to the Castaway Cafe and an easy walk north to Kanapali or south to Whalers Village. This is a hotel for budget minded people who don't care so much about a fancy room but want to be right on the beach in the heart of West Maui

budget way to get 5star ocean views
Part of the Royal Lahaina complex. Older building very close to the beach. Rooms need updating but the Lanai on the outside of the building away from the parking lot have 5 star views. Privileges at the Royal Lahina pool and restaurant. Public Beachwalk though the hotel complex and all the Kaanapal oceanside hotels make for great walks, views and access to other hotel restaurants and beaches without getting into the car

Kaanapali Ocean Inn - Same amenities cheaper rate
This was such a great deal. You get to enjoy the same amenities as the guests in The Royal Kaanapali Resort if you're okay with an average outdated hotel room. The beach was amazing, the sunset view is amazing, the view of Molokai from out hotel was amazing. The happy hour drinks are just as strong as the people get in the fancy building next door. The only downsides was that the tiki bar and hot tub closed down at 6:30 and the shower was kind of dingey. The ceiling tile in the shower collapsed due to moisture, but the maintenance guy had it fixed with in 30 minutes. We came for what Hawaii has to offer and not the room. The amenities were great

Get an ocean front room...you won't be sorry!
I came to Maui for my friend's elopement. I was staying on Oahu, but what a great reason to come here. I looked through TA for a property that was close to them but far away from the touristy Lahaina. I booked a package through Hawaiian Air and chose an ocean front room. The best choice!!!
The room was on the second floor and a very good size. It could use some updating and there were some cosmetic things that average people would complain about. There are three floors but no elevator. But once I opened that sliding door, all that mattered was the view of the ocean and the sound of the waves. I left it open at night and was lulled to sleep and gently woken up in the morning. In the afternoon, I sat in the rocker and read my book. Later in the evening, I stood at the railing and watched some of the luau show. A perk for room 1520.
The staff is some of the friendliest people. They are courteous and give you their undivided attention. And I'm talking about everyone from the front desk, bell, housekeeping, pool attendants, and servers. Another great perk is the use of the amenities at the Royal Lahaina. Again, this little gem is a great place to stay and I would definitely stay here again when my travels bring me this way again
